Crosby Moni started working in 1974 where he worked for Roads and Works in the then Transkei based in uMthatha and in the year 1976-1979 worked for Railway in UMthatha and later transferred to Komani. In the early 80`s he migrated to Mpumalanga where he worked for Matla coal mine together with the current Secretary General of the ANC cde Gwede Mantashe. In 1987 worked for BHP Billiton till 2009. He was elected the NUM Regional Chairperson for Highveld region in Mpumalanga, a position he held until 2000.

He worked as a full-time member of the SACP Central Committee from 2009 until 2011 when he was deployed to the National Assembly in Cape Town where he worked until his last days.

Comrade Moni`s political activism cut across the entire revolutionary tripartite alliance, having held leadership positions within all the structures of the alliance formations.

Moni joined Parliament in 2011 and represented the constituency of Benoni, on the East Rand.

He further served in various directorships during his term as the NUM Deputy President.

He was truly a reservoir of political knowledge, whose immense contribution to debates both within the structures of caucus and Parliament will be sorely missed.

Crosby was one of the best calibres that our revolutionary movement has ever produced.

He was an ANC Mpumalanga deputy chairperson, and was instrumental in rebuilding SA National Civic Organisation structures.

Moni contracted malaria during a recent visit to Mozambique and died on December 22, 2013.

In memory of Comrade Crosby, the entire Congress Movement will deepen its work to advance and defend the unity of our alliance and our programme to better the lives of millions of our people that Cde Crosby represented and fought for throughout his life.

Moni is survived by his wife, three sons and two daughters.

May his Revolutionary fighting spirit rest-in-peace, Siyohlala sikukhumbula
