Heartfelt condolences to the family of SACP Skenjana Roji DEC Member, Comrade Vukile Njoli

28 November 2020

The South African Communist Party (SACP) Skenjana Roji (Buffalo City Metro) is deeply saddened by the passing of the SACP Skenjana Roji District Executive Committee Member, Comrade Vukile Njoli who passed on yesterday, 26 November 2020 after a short illness.

Bawu’ Njoli served and belonged to various formations of the mass democratic movement. At the time of his death, he was a serving member of our 4th District Congress DEC, which he served wholeheartedly until he was no more. His commitment to the advancement of the national democratic revolution and the struggle for socialism will be recorded in history for generations to come.

Even after his retirement in 2010, he continued being actively involved in organisational activities and popular campaigns meant to resolve the problems facing our people in the metro. He was a dedicated and selfless cadre of the movement, an educator who never let go of an opportunity to share his counsel at times when it was most required.

Bawu’ Njoli leaves us at a very difficult time where the entire globe is still engaged in the fight against Covid-19 which has affected many lives and people’s livelihoods.

He departs at a time when the country is still battling with the scourge of femicide and gender-based violence directed mainly on women. He leaves at a time where the working-class is yet again facing another surge of the neoliberal offensive characterised by government’s reneging on collective agreements, looming retrenchments and massive budget cuts on core service delivery and developmental areas.

The Party is indeed poorer without this selfless servant of the people who fought tirelessly against these tendencies till the end.

In his memory, we will intensify our fight against corporate capture of the state, whatever form it may take. We will confront the immediate twin strategic threats of our national democratic revolution of the fight back campaign on one hand, and the neoliberal offensive led by Treasury and other representatives of capital in the movement and in the state. We will honour him by renewing our commitment to the struggle of advancing, deepening and defending our shared national democratic revolution.

As the SACP in the district, we send our heartfelt condolences to the family, the movement and the people as a whole.
