South African Communist Party
Dear Comrades,
On the occasion of the 90th Anniversary of the Foundation of the South African Communist Party (SACP) we extend to you warm greetings and congratulations from the National Council of the Communist Party of India. We the Indian communist highly appreciate and recognize the historical role played by SACP from its inception. A Party which was founded in 1921 inspired by the epoch making Russian Revolution contributed greatly in the struggle against Apartheid regime for a non-racial democratic South Africa. A Party which was from the very beginning the only non-racial Party in South Africa led the heroic struggles against racial discriminations and made tremendous sacrifices. Hundreds of its leaders and members were tortured and killed. Your struggle will be written in gold in the annals of international revolutionary movement.
CPI is well aware of the role playing by SACP as the second largest Party in South Africa in defence of the rights and betterment of the working people of South Africa on the one hand and strengthening ANC-led alliance in consolidating and deepening the national democratic revolution on the other.
On this happy occasion we recall our joint endeavor in mobilizing the people of India through thousands of meetings and demonstrations against the Apartheid regime using the opportunities of the presence of visiting SACP and ANC leaders in India.
After the fall of the Apartheid regime the friendship between our two parties got further strengthened. We believe both our Parties can contribute more to the international communist movement by taking joint initiative on several issue.
Once again we wish your 90th Foundation celebration great success.
Yours Comradely,
A.B. Bardhan
General Secretary
