SACP Central Committee meeting

The 19th Plenary Session of the SACP 13th Congress Central Committee, underway in Johannesburg, has entered its second day. The three-day meeting will end tomorrow, Sunday 26 February. The meeting received a Secretariat Political Report on its first day, Friday 24 February, analysing the present political and economic situation of South Africa in its historical context. The meeting dedicated the whole day yesterday discussing the report and the immediate, medium- to long-term tasks facing the SACP and the working class.

The Central Committee is now discussing a Secretariat Report on the character of the international context, its impact on our country, national democratic revolution and struggle for socialism.

The meeting will be discussing other Secretariat Reports assessing the state of the SACP and the Party's readiness towards its 14th Congress scheduled to take place in July.

The SACP is inviting the media to a post-meeting press briefing to take place as follows.
