SACP did not receive any invitation from Numsa to attend the union`s special national congress

18 December 2013

The South African Communist Party (SACP) notes claims made by the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa`s (Numsa`s) Deputy General Secretary Comrade Karl Cloete in an SA FM interview yesterday, where among other things he said the SACP was invited to Numsa`s Special National Congress taking place in Boksburg, Gauteng Province.

The SACP wishes to state that it did not receive any invitation, and was therefore not invited to the Numsa Special National Congress. Had the Party received an invitation it would have positively considered to attend, and to engage with delegates at the congress.
