SACP Western Cape Provincial Executive Committee Statement

The newly elected Provincial Executive Committee of the South African Communist Party in the Western Cape met for the first time on the 06th October 2013, at Cape Teacher Professional Association in Bellville.

The PEC met on the day of the National Launch of the Red October which is took place in Welkom Free State, on the 06th October 2013. The Western Cape will launch its Provincial Red October Launch in the Boland District, Mbekweni on Sunday 13th October 2013 under the theme "Transform the Financial Sector to Serve the People"

The PEC meeting was guided by the 7th Provincial Congress theme "Taking Responsibility for the NDR and Reclaiming the Political Power in the Western Cape".

The PEC therefore confirmed its commitment of taking responsibility of the National Democratic Revolution as a direct route to Socialism by being guided by the above 7th Provincial Congress theme and its subsequent resolutions. The PEC also confirmed its full commitment and dedication to ensure that the ANC reclaim political power in the Western Cape.

Consequently the PEC reiterated the call to unite the "people`s camp, neutralise the detractors and destroy the enemy". The PEC committed itself to build branches qualitatively and quantitatively to advance working class hegemony and enhance accountability and quality of discipline Central to the PEC meeting was the formulation of the Provincial Working Committee (PWC), Deployment of PEC members to Commissions and Districts.

The following PEC members were elected over and above with the provincial office bearers elected to the PWC.

  3. Amos Komeni

The following members were deployed to co-coordinate the following Commissions:

  1. Party Building - Provincial Secretariat
  2. Ideology and Battle of Ideas - Mark Sweet and Tumisang Bojabotseha
  3. Finance - Provincial Treasure Nokulunga Sofoyiya and Dolly Peter
  4. International Solidarity - Bhekinkosi Mvovo and Mthetho Thunzi
  5. Economic Transformation and Agrarian - Mark Sweet and Anthony Dietrich
  6. Governance - Thanda Wababa and Luthando Nogcinisa
  7. Gender and Social Transformation - Ntombomzi Mjajubana and Mcebisi Mnconywa

As the PEC we commit ourselves to consolidate, deepen and defend the Democratic gains of our National Democratic Revolution (NDR) against counter-revolutionary forces. As the SACP we believe our defence of the NDR and the gains thereof towards next year`s general elections is of paramount importance in Building Socialism. The unity of the Alliance towards elections is sacrosanct and should not be tempered with; we therefore make ardent appeal to all Alliance partners to unite and close ranks.
