DA uses racism to mobilise votes for next year`s elections

4 October 2013

The South African Communist Party in the Western Cape once again condemns the DA`s greed for votes that has reared its ugly head in Grabouw since yesterday 03rd October 2013.

The DA has even outdone itself by sacrificing constitutional values and principles for political expedience. The DA government together with its councillor Mr France Tshaka once again fomented coloured against black violence as it has done before by using education in the area.

This is a result of unscrupulous campaigning by the DA government. Their decisions to disregard with disdain the existing list of human settlement and opted for individuals who were not on the waiting list is a clear violation of crucial human settlement protocols.

This has lead to the community fighting for the few houses that the DA Government has built. The incapacity of DA government to build enough houses is at the verge of inciting black on black violence by dividing black working class and coloured working class in the area.

This is yet another tragic example of the DA`s strategy to divide and rule by inciting violence amongst the working class which was used by the Apartheid government. This is desperate attempt by the DA aimed at winning back lost ground in Grabouw towards next year`s elections.

With the housing backlog of 500 000, the DA government is only capable of constructing less than 8000 houses annually. From 2009 to date the DA has only constructed 42000 houses, a stark difference in comparison from the 84000 that the ANC constructed from 2004 to 2009.

This is a clear indictment to the working class in the Western Cape and a clear indication that the government lead by the DA should be ousted come 2014 Elections.

As the SACP, we reiterate our call that the MEC of Human Settlement should step down. Centrally to all the protest that has taken place under the DA government are service delivery protests. We call on the working class of the Western Cape to unite and refuse to be divided by the DA`s election strategy.
