Audit Outcomes expose corruption and maladministration in City of Cape Town

The failure of the City of Cape Town to get the clean audit as revealed by the Auditor General is yet another confirmation of our view that the DA administration is riddled with fraud, corruption, maladministration. The lies of clean, efficient and effective governance which they have been shamelessly feeding our people over the years have once again been exposed.

Since 2006 the DA lead City of Cape Town has been spending millions of rands, hiring Public Relations agencies in order to deliberately mislead the public and pretend to be the best and legally compliant municipality. The poor have never had confidence in the governance of the DA in the metro because they have directly experienced the blatant disregard for their service delivery needs as well the rot and self-enrichment of the DA.

According to Auditor General "the City of Cape Town failed to get a clean audit report this year, partly because it spent nearly R35 million on contracts awarded to council employees or their close relatives and fell down on few issues of legal compliance in awarding tenders". This is clearly a deliberate violation of procurement and supply chain regulations in order to benefit the DA and its middle class benefactors.

The audit findings are an explosive blow false image the DA has created. The revelations also come when the DA denies siphoning the missing R1.5 billion of tax-payers money in the year just ended. As the SACP in Brian Bunting District we are not surprised as we have been saying the City of Cape Town does nothing for the poor people of this city but they spend tax payer`s money in the affluent areas and hiring PR agencies to defend their maladministration.

Contrary to the image portrayed by the DA and main stream liberal media as the best City in the world, the reality is that this City is in a crises of poor service delivery, corruption and maladministration. Our people in the African and Coloured communities continue to live in squalor without sanitation, safe drinking water, electricity and properly resourced schools in the informal settlement that make it impossible for ambulances, police and fire fighters to get into the area during emergencies. Hence the City of Cape Town, under the DA administration is leading nationally in terms of community protest and it has failed to deliver houses hence the backlog has doubled since they got into power.
