The SACP is deeply disturbed by what clearly is an assassination of Mthuthuzeli Molefe, first deputy president of the South African National Taxi Council (SANTACO). We condemn this in the strongest possible terms, and welcome the fact that the police has assigned a dedicated team to track down the perpetrators.
We send our deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues in the transport sector.
The SACP abhors the use of violence and assassinations ostensibly by those who oppose this or that solution to social problems. We call our communities and those who might have any information on the possible perpetrators to collaborate and assist the police..
In his memory the SACP will intensify its efforts to mobilize communities to deepen our campaign for the accelerated implementation of a safe, reliable, affordable and accessible public transport system.
Issued by the SACP.
