The SACP deeply regrets the dismissal of a newly elected member of our Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Health, Cde Nozizwe Madlala-Routledge.
Had our views as the SACP been properly canvassed, we would have advised otherwise.
Cde Nozizwe’s dismissal is indeed very unfortunate because the circumstances under which she was dismissed goes against the spirit of the recommendations of the ANC policy conference on a new relationship between the state, the ANC, its allies and matters relating to deployment. This also goes against the spirit of the resolutions and recommendations of the SACP’s 12th National Congress on matters relating to deployments of comrades serving in allied structures.
The SACP is confident that the ANC and its National Conference will reflect on these matters with a view to improving the functioning of the alliance and the deployment of its cadres into state structures.
We are of the view that this requires a fundamental review of the exercise of the presidential prerogative in the context of the ANC being both a broad liberation movement, a ruling party and as leader of the tripartite alliance.
The SACP wishes Cde Nozizwe well in her role as a backbencher and we are confident that she will continue to pursue pro working class and poor policies.
