5 August 2007
The SACP wishes to strongly reject the latest allegations against our General Secretary, Cde Blade Nzimande. The SACP wishes to state categorically that Cde Blade Nzimande has never asked for any monies or donations from this "Charles Modise", nor has he ever received any monies from this person or such amounts from Willie Madisha at any stage. The General Secretary has also never had a meeting with this Modise, nor did Cde Nzimande ask Willie Madisha to raise money from this person for the SACP`s 11th National Congress in 2002.
We also wish to state that our 2002-2005 financial statements were fully and duly audited and adopted by the 12th Congress, and there was no such matter raised in any of these statements. Neither was this particular allegation against the General Secretary raised in any of the SACP structures to-date. The SACP therefore demands from Modise and/or Willie Madisha to produce the necessary evidence to this effect.
The SACP has for some time now been aware of a campaign to discredit and tarnish the image of the SACP as well as that of our General Secretary, by elements, including agent provocateurs, which are opposed to the direction that the SACP is taking, and are hell-bent on destroying it. This campaign is being waged together with some disgruntled elements inside our Party. In the run up to our 12th Congress the SACP was made aware of an affidavit by this Modise that was in possession of elements within the media, which was supposed to be published with the sole intention of derailing and defocusing our Congress.
All the above, as our National Chairperson, Cde Gwede Mantashe, has pointed out, is aimed at poisoning an already polluted environment in our broader movement.
The SACP wishes to re-affirm its full confidence in its General Secretary, Cde Blade Nzimande, as part of its leading cadre and have not come across any impropriety on his part.
We therefore call upon all our structures and members not to be diverted from the important tasks and challenges facing the SACP.
Issued by the SACP.
