The General Secretary of the SACP, Cde Blade Nzimande will address the Kwazulu Natal IEC Seminar on the State of our Democracy.
The seminar, held as part of the celebration of the 10 years of existence of the Electoral Commission will discuss the state of our democracy, how the IEC is doing in as far as entrenching democracy and what the media is doing to promote the transformational goals of the Constitution.
The input of the General Secretary will amongst others cover the SACP`s conception of democracy, issues of funding effective democratic participation at local level, the role and strength of parliament, looking into the issue of floor-crossing and our electoral system, the socio-economic and the politics of democracy.
