SACP Statement on the Occasion of Former President Nelson Mandela's 88th Birthday Tuesday,18 July 2006 The South African Communist Party (SACP) joins the millions of our people in wishing a happy birthday to the former President of the African National Congress (ANC) and our country Comrade Nelson Mandela.
The SACP wishes to congratulate Comrade Nelson Mandela, a friend of the workers and the poor and a leader of our people, on his 88^th birthday. For the SACP Comrade Mandela have lived a life of selfless service to the downtrodden and the marginalised. Your courage inspired us all to fight for the liberation of our people and a just society based on human values and solidarity. You continue to inspire our fight for a humane and a society without hunger and poverty. We are joining other South Africans and other people globally who will be commemorating Madiba’s birthday. In him the SACP and the workers will always have a friend and a counsellor. Mandela we wish you a happy birthday and many more years to come.
