Activities AGainst The War During February

1. Throughout Feb PETIITION AGAINST THE WAR All participating organisations are collecting signatures for the petition against war.

2. BLUE RIBBON FOR PEACE - All South Africans are asked to wear a blue ribbon to indicate their support for peace.

3. 13 February MANYANO’S FOR PEACE - Women’s prayers for women and children affected by war.

4. February FRIDAY PRAYERS FOR PEACE - All Mosques will hold Friday Prayers for Peace. NEWTOWN MOSQUE, JEPPE STREET, 12H00 – 15H00. Christian and other faiths will show solidarity by attending Muslim prayers for peace at one of Johannesburg’s largest mosques.

5. 15 February INTERNATIONAL DAY OF ACTION AGAINST THE WAR - March in unity with all organisations opposed to the war in Iraq. Actions are planned throughout the country but the main events will be:

6. 16 February PRAYER SERVICES FOR PEACE - Throughout the country Christian Churches will devote the day to prayers for world peace and the resolution of disputes by negotiation not war.

7. 18 February CHILDREN’S MARCH FOR PEACE: The march will take place in Johannesburg and proceed to the US embassy.

8. 19 February MARCH TO THE AMERICAN govt representatives Johannesburg: Gather at the Union Buildings @ 12h00, march to the US embassy where a picket will be held. . Leadership of all organisations will hand over a memorandum to the Ambassador.

Durban: Gather at the ICC @ 10h00 and March to the US consulate LIGHT UP FOR PEACE: All vehicles light their headlamps to show solidarity with the cause of peace from 16h00 – 17h00.

9. 21 February CHART THE WAY FORWARD All organisations participating in the Stop the War Campaign will hold an evaluation meeting to chart the war forward and identify further programmes of action.
