SACP Central Commitee to Meet 7-9th February

The 11th Congress Central Committee (CC) of the South African Communist Party (SACP) will hold its first meeting for 2003 in Johannesburg from 07 to 09 February. This will be the CC’s third plenary session since its election in July 2002.

The CC meeting will be followed by a Press Conference to be held as follows:

VENUE : SACP Head Office, 3rd floor, COSATU House, 1 Leyds Street,corner Biccard, Braamfontein (Johannesburg)

The CC is the highest structure and decision-making body in-between SACP Congresses.

The CC meeting agenda includes the following items:

The Political Report from the SACP Secretariat is a key SACP document which analyses current developments and identifies roles and tasks of the SACP in the current period. The Political Report will shape the CC’s discussions and SACP work during 2003. Specifically, the Political Report covers the following issues:

The CC discussion on Land and Agrarian Reform will be led by an input from the Minister of Land and Agricultural Affairs and member of the ANC National Executive Committee, Comrade Thoko Didiza. The CC will specifically focus on the Communal Land Rights Bill and existing programmes to accelerate land reform.
