The South African Communist Party (SACP) mourns the unexpected passing away of the South African Students Congress (SASCO) President Comrade Siphiwe Lawrence Zuma
The SACP is shocked and saddened by the unexpected passing away of SASCO President on the morning of Wednesday, September 11,2002. Comrade Siphiwe Lawrence Zuma was involved in an accident on the early hours of Sunday, September 08, 2002, when with other Comrades they were on their way to the SADTU congress in Durban. Comrade Siphiwe was the current SASCO President, and the President of (SAUSRC’S) South African Universities SRC’s.
He was an SACP cadre, and a cadre of our movement, his role in the struggle for the liberation and the bettering of the lives of our people will always be with us. As a young cadre, Comrade Siphiwe demonstrated an ability to lead, amongst his peers he was seen for what he was a Revolutionary, a committed freedom fighter and a communist who fought especially for better conditions of students in the higher education sector, and in his community, more importantly he was a young man who had a vision of a better society. As the SACP we salute this cadre, to most of us in the SACP, we say “The Spear has fallen” a Titan of our revolution has fallen”.
To the family, relatives and friends we say “ A kwe hlanga lungehlanga”. We send our condolences.
