Deputy SG Jeremy Cronin to Address SACP Congress in Cape Town

The Deputy General Secretary of the South African Communist Party (SACP), Jeremy Cronin, will address the second Congress of the biggest SACP district in the Western Cape, the South East Metro District as detailed below:

DATE : Saturday, 27 April 2002
TIME : 10h30 - 13h00
VENUE : Andile Nhose Community Centre, Mandela Park, Khayelitsha, Cape Town

The Congress will be attended by 120 delegates drawn from 22 SACP branches in the areas of Khayelitsa, Mitchell's Plain, Lwandle, Macassar and other areas.

In his address, Cronin will cover the following:

• Report of the ANC-SACP-COSATU-SANCO Alliance Summit
• The 11th Congress of the SACP to be held in July
• Building of a South African solidarity movement with the people of Swaziland, Palestine, Western Sahara and Cuba
• The challenges facing the Alliance in the Western Cape Province 
  
  The District Congress will develop a Programme of Action the SACP will undertake in this District. We want to build sustainable communities and help transform the local economy in favour of poor and working people, said Mvuyisi Macikama, SACP South East Metro District Secretary.
