10 April 2002
Today, on the 9th anniversary of the murder of the late SACP General Secretary, Chris Hani, the SACP General Secretary, Blade Nzimande, officially launched the Chris Hani Health Trail at the Botshabelo Health Complex in Bloemfontein. After meeting with the hospital board and health officials, Nzimande met with health workers and visited patients at different wards at the Health Complex. This was an important visit in understanding the state of the public health system in our country.
Tomorrow, the SACP will issue an extensive report of the Chris Hani Health Trail activities SACP structures are conducting throughout the country today and tomorrow.
As part of the Chris Hani Health Trail, Blade Nzimande will visit the King Edward Hospital in Durban from 10h00 to 12h00 on 11 April. Blade Nzimande will also be the keynote speaker at the Inaugural Rick Turner Memorial lecture at the University of Natal, Durban (to be held from 12h30 on 11 April at the Rick Turner Student Union Building, University of Natal, Durban). Rick Turner was an anti-apartheid academic who was teaching at the University of Natal and was killed by security police in the 1970s.
