The SACP Mourns the Death of Mrs Nyanisi Shilowa

10 January 2002

The South African Communist Party (SACP) is saddened to hear of the news of the death of Mrs. Nyanisi Anna Shilowa, the mother of Comrade Sam Mbhazima Shilowa, SACP Central Committee member and Premier of the Gauteng Province.

Mrs. Shilowa passed away yesterday evening at a Pietersburg Hospital after a long illness.

The SACP sends its condolences and support to the Shilowa family and Comrade Mbhazima. We share the family's pain and grief. We hope and trust that during this dark hour the family will gain strength and solace in the fact that Mrs. Shilowa lived long enough to see the demise of apartheid which denied millions of rural women like her dignity and a decent life.

The 77 year old Mrs. Shilowa will be buried on Sunday, 13 January in Olifantshoek.
