JOHANNESBURG – The South African Communist Party (SACP) says its polit bureau meeting today will thoroughly assess the political implications of yesterday's Constitutional Court judgement against President Jacob Zuma.

Yesterday, a unanimous bench of the ConCourt found that Zuma had broken his oath of office by failing to comply with the binding remedial actions of the Public Protector.

But the party says it's too early to comment on the court's finding and to contemplate the political ramifications for the president.

The SACP says it notes the unanimous judgment in the ConCourt relating to the powers of the Public Protector and the president's Nkandla homestead.

Spokesperson Alex Mashilo says the way forward will be debated by the SACP's central committee members at today's meeting.

The meeting is expected to wrap up this weekend.
