The SACP in the Northern Cape said it will join the march to the premier's office on the campaign against the "illegitimate and brutal" state of Israel.

The communists will join ANC, Cosatu and Northern Cape Muslim community when they march against the "unlawful and violent occupation of the West Bank, including East Jerusalem and the inhumane blockade of Gaza".

"This unlawful occupation continues unabated while Palestinians live under the oppressive yoke of Israeli militarism," SACP provincial spokesperson Patrick Bosiame said.

He said the Israeli Palestinian issue had been ongoing for almost 70 years since the establishment of the state of Israel in 1948 during which time the plight of Palestinians had only worsened.

Premier Sylvia Lucas is expected to receive the memorandum on behalf of the provincial government tomorrow.

"This has also included discrimination, human rights abuses, the killing of unarmed and innocent women and children, violations of international law and the increase of illegal Israeli settlement activity on the land of Palestinians," Bosiame said.

"We call on all our people, our alliance partners and progressive forces to come together from various faiths, as this is a human tragedy and not a religious dispute."

He said in solidarity with the people of Palestine, they demanded full equality for Arab-Palestinian, an end to the occupation and colonisation of Palestinian land, including the Golan Heights, the occupied West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza.

"We demand the dismantling of apartheid walls within the occupied territories. The protection of Palestinian refugees' right to return to their homes and properties as stipulated in the UN resolution 194.

"An economic sanction against Israel companies and products by our government and South African companies doing business with the brutal regime and the creation of a democratic state of the people, by the people for the people."
