Johannesburg :Despite tensions in the tripartite alliance, the South African Communist Party (SACP) has called on its members to continue to throw their support behind the ANC. SACP spokesperson Alex Mashilo said the strained relationship between the ANC and SACP in Kwazulu-Natal and Mpumalanga had caught the attention of the national leadership.

"All our members have asked for national intervention to normalise the situation to achieve a victory for the ANC in the local governments," he said. Meanwhile, the SACP in Mpumalanga yesterday picketed outside the Delmas High Court during the hearing of the Bomber Ntshangase murder case to support the family and to demonstrate against political killings.

SACP spokesperson in Mpumalanga Lesetja Dikgale said Ntshangase was slain after questioning the municipality contract awarded to upgrade a hostel in Bethal in 2010. "This murder case is one that the SACP has been calling for answers to in the political killings in the province since 2008.

We are willing to mend our ills in the province but there has never been any alliance meeting to map our way forward," he said. Meanwhile, the SACP and Sanco in KwaZulu-Natal agreed to commit themselves to a decisive victory for the ANC in the local government elections. "However, we are deeply disappointed at the state of the nomination process and violence in the province. KwaZuluNatal is lagging behind both in the nomination processes and the election campaign,"

Sanco provincial secretary Richard Mkhungo said. ANC Kwazulu-Natal provincial secretary Supa Zuma said the relationship between the ANC and SACP had stood the test of time and he knew that whatever the challenges were the processes would be resolved amicably. "As the leader of the alliance, the ANC refuses to be drawn into a public spat which can only harm the image and integrity of the revolutionary alliance.

"We value our revolutionary alliance with the SACP, Cosatu and the South African Civic Movement. "Therefore, we are committed to have an open, comradely discussion to confront and resolve whatever issues arise from our work as the leader of the national democratic revolution in our country," he said.
