The SACP in the Western Cape will lobby for the support of its resolution to rename Cape Town International Airport after the party's former general-secretary, Chris Hani.

SACP's provincial spokesperson, Masonwabe Sokoyi, says it's one of the resolutions taken during the party's provincial council meeting held in Phillipi township at the weekend.

Sokoyi says they also resolved that SACP members should be actively involved in community issues.

“Among the resolutions the council took was to direct all the structures to mobilise in ensuring that towards the 2016 local government elections, the ANC reclaim most of municipalities that they unfortunately in 2011 lost to the DA.” said Sokoyi.

“We will lobby the structures of the alliance in supporting our call for the Cape Town International Airport to be renamed after our former general secretary, Chris Hani,” concluded Sokoyi.
