The Saturday Star's coverage of the debate within Swaziland's underground People's United Democratic Movement (Pudemo) about whether to take a more aggressive stance towards that country's monarchy - including rumoured guerrilla warfare training - provoked a stream of virulent denials from Pudemo.
Over the past two weeks we have been widely defamed as everything from anti-democrats and white supremacists, to stooges of Swazi intelligence. This campaign against good journalism has sadly continued at Pudemo's 6th national congress in Piet Retief this week.
We prefer to let our readers decide, based on Michael Schmidt's interview with Pudemo president Mario Masuku, whether our report was balanced. It is online at www.thestar.co.za/index.php?fArticleId=3582060
