The ANC in KwaZulu-Natal has described as malicious a report in a weekly newspaper that some top members of the party are suspected to have been behind the actions of a group of people who disrupted President Thabo Mbeki's speech last weekend.
The incident took place at the reburial of Moses Mabhida, an ANC and SA Communist Party struggle veteran, at the Harry Gwala stadium.
Senzo Mchunu, the provincial ANC secretary, urged those who have information that could assist in the investigation to come forward.
"It is either people are being malicious to other people by merely making speculatory statements or people are deliberately sabotaging the work that we are doing… Therefore we are saying the proper thing to do is not to go around making these suspisions (sic), go to the team and make a statement there, give evidence there," said Mchunu.
