Hundreds of motorists have been arrested in Johannesburg during an operation conducted by the city's metro police department.

Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said yesterday that the ongoing operation began on Monday and would continue until the end of December.
During the operation, 618 motorists were arrested for outstanding traffic warrants.

"About 24 criminals wanted for serious crimes, including murder, rape and armed robbery, were also arrested," said Minnaar. - Sapa
